Hi Blind, I am a SDE 1 at Amazon who happens to be close friends with a higher level employee who has been loyal to a major company for several years and has managed to make it to a high managerial rank (think VP level). I have been encouraging my friend to jump ship for higher TC, but it doesn’t feel like the usual Blind advice (DM lots of low level recruiters) would apply here. My question is, how do senior level employees at FAANG-tier companies apply for senior level positions? I can’t seem to find any openings on LinkedIn that would match match his/her profile, and while the person in question does get hounded by startups, getting contacts from companies of his caliber has been a surprising challenge. Are there any reputable elite headhunters perhaps? Any recommendations or suggestions are highly appreciated. My TC: 180k
At this point they should have a network and should let their network know they are looking around. They can also turn on the LinkedIn note in their profile (properly update their profile with good keywords etc is a given) and executive recruiters will reach out. Network doesn't work much.. as you move up mostly it shrinks to very few..
Then you are using it wrong…
At those levels you are typically approached for roles. I'm a Sr. Director.
Yeah he/she gets reached out to by startups but usually they tend to be for executive roles at newish startups which isn't his/her primary goal at this point in his/her life.
Referrals, VC talent partners, headhunters. But for startups, there are more public listings of these roles
I'm a Department Head I applied normally (saw job online / submitted application) and was then heavily pursued & recruited when they saw the application and loved the first round interview.
You’ll get head hunted. +1 to using key words in your LinkedIn.
Work with an executive level recruiter who specializes in these high profile hires
Do you have any recommendations?
