I am IC 3 who joined half a year back at Apple. Best to my knowledge, all other engineers on my team are IC5 and above. They are included in most important meetings, get visibility to upper management and I work on scraps. I try to get involved into more design stages and 'upper level talk' but I lack authority when it comes to decisions. My inspiration is quite low due to this, I don't get a sense of ownership or responsibility. This is the beginning of the new quarter, and I am thinking about how to change my strategy at work. Also - my team has no clear roadmap for this quarter yet(or one shared with us collectively), one sprint has gone by with me being very unclear about what I will be working on. The other seniors have something assigned to them. I am getting uncomfortable about all of this. I do seem to get appreciated for having done the work I did last quarter but I lack a sense of direction and feel lost. #Apple #promotion #software #engineering

What did your manager say when you expressed you want more visibility projects? If you believe your manager isn't going to help you reach your career goals, you might want to consider switching team or company.
I technically have visibility into projects as the documents are shared with the whole team - should I ask for assignment of tasks from these projects? My manager asked me to pitch in with my views on the projects.
Pick something and say you’ll do it in x amount of time. If you are waiting for your manager to figure out what he should assign to you, you are still working with an IC3 mentality.
