I’m a SWE worked at a Tier 2 company for 1.5 years out of school, and I left to work at a series B unicorn. I was let go 7 months into the job, back in November. I took a job at a no name startup in February (no other options) and have been here ever since. Total almost 3 years of experience. I’m really hoping to get a job specifically at Bloomberg. I’m not sure if they’re hiring for 3 years of experience (all the senior engineer positions on the website say 4yoe). Also, I don’t know C++. I’ve mostly been working in Typescript/node, but I also know python. Not sure with the market being what it is and with my short stints, how I should proceed. I think my resume is not good because I’m working at a no name startup and the short stints. I used to be really good at leetcode and will probably be pretty good again after a month or two of practice. Less good at system design but I’m reading DDIA, watching YouTube, reading company blogs.
Why did you get let go? Was it a layoff?
you know typescript (what bbg used for the front end) and python. you don't need to know C++ and are more than welcome to interview in python. senior engineers are anyone with 2+ yoe, so you'd be applying/interviewing for a senior role. you say that you'll be good at leetcoding (I take this to mean succeeding in technical interviews) in a month or two. I'm not sure what this post is asking for. you have everything you need. just take initiative and polish your resume if necessary
I’m a backend developer though, I use typescript on backend development. I dont have frontend experience outside personal projects
that's fine. again, you have everything you need
What's a "tier 2" company? Also Bloomberg is being super selective right now because they can given thr market. Looking to hiring people from FAANGs or other banking areas
I see. I was working at Coinbase
OP, you should be good. I recently joined with 3 yoe from a no name startup too. I also had no frontend experience but knew how to write typescript and python. I also don't know C++, so your profile basically fits exactly mine. My two cents, just be very good at leetcoding and pass ur technical with flying colors and have a bunch of examples to demonstrate leadership experience for the behavioral sections. If you are interviewing for a senior role (which I assume you will, you will also need to have a strong grasp on system design) Dm if you have further questions about the process! Good luck :)
Were you hired in 2021/2022?
Thank you, DM’d
You have a good chance at Bloomberg. Please apply and leetcode like crazy. Good luck
Thank you. I’m trying but not getting interviews

:( why u say that. Too many short stints?
