How do you msft employees feel that your acquisition LinkedIn has better perks, comp, etc.? I’m assuming they will converge at some point.
I can convert my LinkedIn profile to Word!
I like access to the tools for free.
Sure, I can definitely believe LinkedIn acquisition has contributed more than MSFT paid for LinkedIn. Especially with all the crazy valuations these days. I meant more from an employee standpoint? Do msft employees feel that they should move to LinkedIn/vice versa? Does it create an imbalance in culture?
It’s been operating independently, especially for culture and hiring, so for example, MSFT employee would have to go through external interview process.
I heard some of the perks from LinkedIn are introduced to Microsoft employees as well in few locations.. such as free food..
The student in me is screaming : free food?? Where!
In bay area
at least MSFT starting providing free food now... lol
I don’t know why ppl say linkedin acquisition is silly. Anything to back up that claim?
I don’t think it’s silly, of course not! With all the crazy valuations we see these days in tech, I think LinkedIn was a strategic acquisition by msft for not too crazy a valuation. I was just asking about culture clash between msft and LinkedIn.
Oops, sorry for the misunderstanding because I wasn’t referring to you. See the first comment to your post from @MethodOne. I also heard the same sentiment from different sources, so just throwing out a general question here. Thanks for clarifying your question also.
I think the general sentiment is good. Msft has (mostly) left LinkedIn to its ways which everyone appreciates. And LinkedIn as a business unit is doing quite well so it is unlikely to change soon. Msft stock had also appreciated handsomely which helps too.
Microsoft pulled some of LinkedIn’s top leaders into leadership roles at Microsoft. Kevin Scott is now MS CTO, Jeff Weiner is reporting directly to Satya and supposedly is in charge of integration, Reid Hoffman joined MS’s board, etc. Bottom line is I think Microsoft wants Microsoft to become more like LinkedIn
Microsoft finally got a social network. You could say that Google got one with YouTube, but they have been pretty ungrateful and really failed to make any use of it as such.
Same as at the time it was done. A horrible blunder
