Kafka is dominating the market right now, there is no alternative that is as good as kafka, maybe spark stream Whats going on
Markets destroy good tech
Good tech is one that is marketable.
Pulsar is the alternative. Red panda is great too. NATS jetsteam ain’t bad either.
Yep, multitenancy support , geo replication out of the box
Lots of vendor consolidation going on. All these features listed on the exchange will get acquired if a recession does hit. Market still not as bad as during 2000 bust.
Do companies need managed Kafka or are most okay maintaining their own instances?
It is not easy to manage Kafka especially when the throughput is high
my company is self managing Kafka. We have the expertise in house. I recommend using managed Kafka in most cases..
Kafka is great. I don't know anyone who pays for professional services or Confluent cloud though. Part of the reason why Kafka is great is that you probably will never have to pay.
The biggest reason is actually Roblox decided to move out from cloud including Confluent. This has a huge impact to our revenue
Oh. They completely moved out of the cloud?
"There's no alternative that is as good as Kafka" - Bro/Sis, what are you smoking that makes you say this?
Name a few?
Name a use case. Are are you saying Kafka is suitable everywhere?
No love for Red Panda?
We are migrating to managed Kafka solution and got the quotes for our current load from AWS MSK & Confluent. MSK costs 200k a year and Confluent close to million. Though Confluent has more features than MSK, it’s too expensive.
Was this quote for enterprise or dedicated?
msk only has dedicated
Without AI buzzwords, if there is a single bad news investor panics and they will ignore all other good news. They want to invest a company with just good news or a bunch of AI buzzwords. Blame the marketing, blame the product head, blame the CEO.
A good piece of technology means nothing if there is not a solid product and business model to deliver it.
