How do media companies deal with piracy?

Still think this must be a huge issue? What are some ways you combat this?

It’s controlled. Post dvd release mostly they don’t care. The focus is entirely on preventing a high quality print release pre dvd

You enforce moderate to severe penalties for infringement whilst minimizing friction for the paying customers. If you look at subscription numbers for e.g. Spotify you'd see that piracy isn't a big deal (and never was).

They deal with it by having streaming services. Fewer and fewer people pirate music or video anymore because it’s way easier to get it legally.
