I’ve recently started a video production company that focuses on commercial and doc, where we also offer to create additional assets from the shoots to support social for the following months. The guys that are with me have a wide range of content under their belts, as well as marketing backgrounds, so its been difficult to narrow down who we approach. My question to all you CD’s/Producers/Marketing Managers/etc: how do you all go about finding and selecting the production companies you work with? Do you search them out based on their focus and if its in line with what you want to film? Do you look for production companies that film a lot of different things, knowing that theyll be able to handle anything you throw at them, and your oiece will have their “style”?
I hired a company who sent me a box of chocolates, they were not as good but chocolates gave them a chance.
Project dependent and region as well. If you’ve been in the industry long enough you have your “go-to” companies that you use often if they fit the scope of what you’re doing. But as other posters mentioned it’s largely word of mouth and by referral/connection from other industry professionals you trust.
If you have to ask. You’re in the wrong biz my friend.
