How do you negotiate with offers in hand?

I have 3 offers from A, B, and C. A is offering the most and C is offering the least, but I'm interested in working for all of them and compensation might be the deciding factor. What to I say to C to ask for more? Do I give a specific number I want, tell them what A is offering, or just generally ask them to be more competitive?

“Look, I really want to work for you guys, but the compensation is slightly less than what I’d be getting at A and B. Here are my offers from them. Is it possible to bump your offer up a little bit to match them.”

I wouldn't include the bit about "matching" them, since you ultimately want them to outbid the others.

Ask C that's their best offer. Start of a negotiation. Try not to state a specific number. Let C say their number first. Let's use 5000 per year salary increase for illustrative purposes. It's paid out at about 200 per pay period. Not going to break the bank. If you're good, the salary will be a distant memory after you start delivering results. Agree with other poster about revealing other offers, ends up in nickel and dime discussions. And there's more to an offer than salary, expand the pie.

Great advice. Mind share a list of things to optimize other than salary numbers?

Time off Flexible work Stock Paid traing to keep your skills current Work space location. Parking Transportation allowance Paid smart phone Basically open your mind to noce to haves that are not salary based. I dont work in tech but in hr and am amazed at the %age of people who don't/won't get beyond salary. Remember, they want you. And the worst thst can happen when you ask, can you do, or will you do this is they say no. You only get one chance to negotiate, after that, you're in the program and its easier to say no.
