People who try speaking in a specific accent that is not native can be easily marked as having “fake accent”. But what if you really like some accent and are so enthralled by it that you want to speak with it fluently? Did you ever perfect a foreign accent? How? And this is NOT about not being okay with your native accent. This is more about trying something that you like. And yes, I find the British English accent amazing. But somehow its tough to pick it up. Tc 330k
lol
TC ?
Stop it please...
Nope! I like my accent and whoever doesn't like it can go f themselves :)

The only true English accent is the Indian accent. That's because majority of English speakers are from India. American accent is the funniest but Hollywood has popularized it, so fewer people laugh when they hear it. The British accent doesn't sound too funny but people associate it with uncivilized football fans. Indian accent is pretty hard to get right, so people might call it a fake accent when you try. But it takes patience and practice and bit of yoga. Try living in India for a few years, makes it easier.
As an Indian, I want this kind of confidence in my life.
False. More People from the US speak English than in India. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_English-speaking_population Additional Interesting takeaway is that a higher percentage of Dutch people speak English than Canadian.
Just watch enough American TV, only a new york cab driver can tell I'm not from here
New York cab drivers are definitely not from here
True .. but they can spot a foreign accent no matter how subtle like nobody else
After 5 years in the UK everyone thinks I'm British. And that's people from all over the world, including Brits. English wasn't even my first or second language, and I hardly spoke it before I moved here. Guess it's all about being exposed to it 24/7 and a bit of natural talent!
That’s the catch if you never knew English before and you start on with British English then you are ought to pick it up as that is the only way you know to speak it.
+1, move to the UK! Very hard to pick it up when in the US. The best next alternative - hang out with many Brits where you are now / start dating one!
Lol. Without moving to UK will be nice. Their accent is so epic. They literally gulp so many alphabets in a word and its so difficult to even copy.
Haha and not just the accent but also the vocabulary and ways of expressing themselves in general 👌can come across a bit stuck up at times but also kind of cool and cultured
