After referral from two different friends, I still got nothing from Apple. it has been 3 weeks since the first referral, and I heard from my other friend saying I have to apply the job online by myself for a specific role or otherwise it won’t link to my profile. I’m a bit confused. Also is it really that important to have a degree in CS/EE when applying for a EPM job? I got a BBA in finance from a top 20 and a MBA from a top 5 in US. 9 years YOE in software and hardware engineering and PM. Thanks
Some people do get their first response within 3 days. It depends on the manager, the recruiter, the team, and what’s going on with that team. If they really like an applicant, they’re going to move faster. Also, nobody here can say whether or not that degree is important. Only hiring manager and recruiter. They are the ones who created the description and HM is the one that decides what’s a deal breaker and what’s not
Thanks for the reply. I just got a little confused about the process. Is there anything I can do at this point? Really love to work at apple.
Nope. Nothing you can do. Do not wait for Apple, Apple is the long game.
Referral system at Apple is one the most screwed up I have ever seen, only second to Amazon. I’d encourage you to reach out directly to the recruiter or HM for the team through LinkedIn or email (if you have that).
Referral system doesn’t work at apple
I’ve referred three people. Two got calls and interviews within a month. One was hired. The third never got a call. The people referring you should reach out to the hiring manager.
I think Apple culture is a big screwed up in general. Abusive managers almost everywhere. Much more nice companies in the valley than Apple.
Talked to my friends who work at Apple about this. They told me Apple is so inconsistent with hiring. Sometimes they put up positions that they know they will need in 6-12 months and just let hundreds of applicants apply so they can get a huge pool. He said having a referral from an Apple employees puts you atop that pool if you’re a good fit. They will essentially pick you over someone else with a similar resume since you have a referral. They said they can also get back to some people in days. Those jobs are mostly for positions that they need to fill asap. Like someone quit and they need to find someone to take that spot to keep the project going.
I got a referral from a manager at Apple and it’s been 2 months without contact. He said Apple are very very slow.
Yea they are, what position did you apply for?
QA engineer I believe. My friend told me it took him 6 months to get a response to his application, and another one of my friends who works there told me her process took 8 months.
