NYC seems to have a slightly better handle on the issue with their 'right to shelter' see eg http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-new-york-homeless-20180525-story.html But they still can't keep up
Only place in the world where I saw a guy using a needle while sitting on the curb, in plain day light : SF....
Please enlighten us with all the "places" in the world you've been to.
I’ve traveled all over the world extensively, mostly in third world countries, and have never this elsewhere either.
Holy needle
NYPD adopts broken window theory and policy and has zero tolerance of lawlessness thanks to Giuliani and Bloomberg. But the current mayor seems to want to tolerant homeless
It got way worse soon after de blasio was elected
They can shelter in warm shower stations.
It’s worlds better than sf. The worst that will happen is a homeless person will do something gross on the train.
NYC actually use to have a huge problem back in the day. Rudy Giuliani became mayor and cleaned it up in a simple way. He strictly enforced laws on the homeless in the ‘important’ areas of the city. This resulted in jailing of many, but also scared off what was left. Chicago has a similar policy for its downtown. San Fran needs to stop being run by hippies, that allow the homeless to do what they want and then wonder why everything is soo fucked up. Dont use drugs on the street, dont shit on the street- these are simple rules enforced everywhere else in the US.....
Jack Dorsey supports these dumb people running the city.
I bet he wouldn’t if people were shitting and shooting up on his street.
NYC homeless is nothing compared to SF. I lived in NYC for 20 years. I’m in Seattle now, and last month spent a week in SF. Seattle shocked me to see the tent and RV life inside of a city. The only horrible street scene I observed was the horrible block downtown with people nearly dying before you. I never saw anything like that in NYC. Well, Seattle is nothing: SF nearly made me physically ill to see what’s going on there. It is horrible that you have to see the mentally ill on the streets, and then to have one screaming at you. Wow, I’ll say no more, other than NYC has its people asking for money, your cardboard box dwellers, and strange people talking to themselves on the subway. But after what I’ve seen on the west coast, it’s very manageable. In NYC a bum on the subway once asked to dance with me (I’m a male), in SF one guy wanted to fucking kill me because I didn’t give him money. No correlation, just saying that the homeless in NY are far quieter and less disgusting than what I’ve seen out here. San Francisco has the worst problem with homelessness, mental illness, and open drug usage in the entire developed world. Meanwhile, enjoy your $1.5m condo with 1.1% property tax, 11% income tax, and egregious sales and use taxes.
Many of the homeless in SF are from NYC, where they were offered free one way plane tickets.
Is there any real evidence of this outside of maybe a couple anecdotes? We have the same stories in Chicago about us shipping out homeless to California and Seattle
Why write so much instead of just Google "homeless nyc plane ticket"? You are literally 4 words away from finding out
