Do you save much from your base salary post mortgage? My savings seem to only come from bonus and stock. It’s getting harder and harder to save from base.
Where do you live?
Live in the Bay Area. Mortgage is $3K but I’m also a single earner.
Where did you buy a house for 3k mortgage? How much down did you do
Mortgage of 3k, must have been a lot down, or in Hayward/ Fremont
Trying to save up to buy a rental property but it’s hard
How do you manage a 3k mortgage in the bay area?
Paying down principal is kind of saving
I save around 16-20k not including 401k. Base is 163, the mortgage is exactly 3k
You save 16-20k per year?
Yes, after all spendings. Including vacation two times a year. Don’t have kids though. I do have stock. But those are extra.
Put 1M down bought in 2016
Saved up 1m but can barely afford 3k a month? The math doesn't add up
I was living at home rent free before. After mortgage and property taxes I Save $1500-2K a month now which seems low. I save bonus and stock.
Ah.. Mortgage payment stays fixed, but hopefully your salary will increase over time. Or find a roommate if you want more cash.
6k post mortgage, post 401k and tax.
Start paying your mortgage in weekly or bi-weekly payments. It brings the daily rate of interest on the principle down faster
No savings depends on mortgage amount too and property taxes hoa insurance
