Recruiter reached out about a certain role in a team that sounds interesting. Can I still ask to work on something else or does that include a whole new recruiter and process?
This is for design. If the point of a boot camp (what is it even?) is to find the right team, why would the process be restated from scratch for another team? The team currently sounds like fun, I was just curious if, hypothetically, I could work on Instagram if I wanted to after all.
Instagram is all in the bay area. If you're in Seattle area, there won't be any options for Instagram for you
I want to move to the bay anyway, but I'd also want to be in the FB "town".
The point of boot camp is to help you ramp up on all things FB. Everyone team hire or a generalist goes through a bootcamp. You can ask your recruiter to pass you on to a different role but most likely another recruiter will be in charge. If you have not started the interview process you can give it a shot or even ask to interview as a generalist (again this might go to another recruiter) to keep your options open
What’s the role? Generally software eng, PMs etc. are hired as generalists. They go through 6-8 weeks of boot camp and then choose the team. I have seen cases where folks accept the offer for a particular role and switch in boot camp. In most cases there’s a legit reason like reorg or hiring managers changing. Check career site and let your recruiter know if you have a different role in mind. And yes, it’ll be mostly likely a different recruiter who will review your resume and restart the process if you’re a fit
