I am often in very silent #zoom meetings and have often wondered how many people are even paying attention.
We don't use zoom, just dial into a bridge. Everyone is pretty much checked out and asks for a recap of the last few minutes when their name is called.
Same but I feel like it's a mutual understanding that most of us are doing this.
Watch out where the Huskies go!
I really enjoy meetings where I don't have to actively participate. Unfortunately, I have to actively participate in most of my meetings. It takes a lot of mental energy for me.
Same, if I don’t have to participate I’m usually pretty checked out. But most of my meetings are one to ones or small working groups.
Just curious - why will anyone be on a meeting if their active participation is not required? Doesn’t that mean that they are unnecessarily added to that meeting? Active participation doesn’t just mean you are the one who’s talking. It’s active listening, understanding, questioning, acknowledging, discussing.
About as concentrated as I would be in a normal meeting i think
This can be age related?. Being more Young it's more difficult pay attention and it took a lot of energy. That change after some years of experience, at least that happened to me.
ok this gives me hope
It's the reverse for me
Looks pretty evenly matched
This is probably the worst case scenario. If you are trying to run the meeting, you have no idea what level attention everyone is paying. At least if you know nobody is listening you can record the meeting and essentially give a presentation.
WebEx and Teams. The meetings (excluding stand up) require paying attention and providing feedback so I'm pretty engaged. I'm also relatively new to my role so I'm trying to take in as much as I can. YOE 1yr
As engaged as I need to be for my team to be successful. Sometimes that means zoning out until directly addressed and other times it means questioning every other point made
We have a policy where we don’t have to show our face on calls. I love it
Who has a policy were ppl have to show their face on calls?
Usually at Google, we need to show our faces. That’s t the default expectation in my experience
I go through all the motions in the options, but it solely depends on the meeting and how much importance I assign to it.
I’m literally on a meeting right now 😂
Same lol
Lol hope it when well
