I am a foreigner and looking for a mobile SWE job in the States as a junior SWE (1 YOE, no masters degree). H1B is extremely difficult to get, so I'm looking for other options as well. Many people suggest O1 as an alternative, but is O1 recommendable to someone with little experience as me? I'm curious if there's anyone with little experience who got O1 visa. #workvisa #h1b #o1 #apple #google #facebook #meta #amazon #microsoft #uber #twilio #salesforce #pinterest #netflix #linkedin #ibm
You have better chance to sneak yourself on a boat to the U.S.
If you found a startup, get series A funding and have RSAs vesting at paper value for $1mil+/yr then maybe
When I was a phd, my lab had two post doctors who got O1. Basically, the difficulty is almost the same as EB2 NIW green card.
O1 visa is also called the Einstein visa. That should give you some idea of the difficulty.
Yes Melania trump also got it, that must tell you a lot.
A friend’s sister who is a pediatric heart surgeon got an O1 right after finishing residency. She is literally saving the life of babies. The bar is extremely high and rightfully so
Then there is Accenture who is filing unskilled managers under EB-1. What a joke! Source: friend of mine who works in Accenture from last 10+ years
Yes, most outsourcing firms do that. If there is a loop hole someone will surely exploit it. Time to tighten our immigration laws You work at NetApp as a code monkey so you still won’t qualify for an O1 though.
