They’re notorious for doing them every year even in the best of economies. Shocked they haven’t put the hammer down yet with everyone else doing them.
Why are you concerned?
Can I get a referral
They only did 2 times in last 12 years so check your facts. Yes they have not done it so far and may not even do it. Even if they do, they would take care by giving great severance package like last time.
What was the last severance?
8 weeks base + 2 weeks for each year + cobra. Also they paid all bonus for that year and early stocks released. Also they gave 2 months advance notice so all good
Only two things are certain in life: death and taxes
Absolutely original sir
Internally, they’re really cautious about spending money. They keep suffering for the longest time they can and only then hire a new team member. So, they never over hired. Any layoffs in the past have been in the context of company acquisitions (e.g. creditkarma, mailchimp, etc.). Also, rate of attrition is really high - so, they can always stop hiring and meet their cost cutting that way.
Cause they pay peanuts
Ha ha. I have just reported my W2 with 340k as staff engineer that does not contains RSU benefits so if you call that peanut then I am happy with it.
In my experience they were crying hard and saying cant go beyond 88k USD as base pay for EM in India
