I interviewed for Senior SWE position this Friday, at LinkedIn NY and I am waiting to hear back from the recruiter. Just wanted to get an idea as to how high/low the bar at LinkedIn is for getting an offer? 2 System Design rounds- I feel that I did fairly well. The interviewers had tons of follow up questions which I tried to answer to the best of my ability. My explanations seemed to make sense to them for most of the part but there was a point in one of the interviews, where the interviewer said ‘I understand how your design will work but at the same time, it’s hard for me to envision it.’ I have no idea as to what he meant by that but I tried to answer all his follow ups! 2 Algo/Coding rounds. Did pretty well in the first round. The second round had 2 questions. I finished the first question but the second question was a bit difficult, I told the interviewer the correct logic but I got stuck while coding and couldn’t complete the solution. I feel like I bombed this particular round! 1 Interviewer with the HM. It was pretty good and I felt that we clicked well! Based on your experiences, any idea as to what I should expect?
Not to dishearten you, I solved both my coding questions with most optimal solution and did meh on system design. Reject and it was the coding round for which I was docked. I couldn't believe it, but I knew mine and interviewer's perspective were different. This was long before I started at MS and LI was bought by MS. Lol.
Omg, I had the same experience. Nailed all of their leetcode rounds, did okayish on product design round. And they axed me in the coding round. Wtf
Wow! Thanks for let me know!! I shouldn’t have my hopes high now haha! I definitely did bomb one of my coding rounds!! How long did it take for both of you to hear back from the recruiter?
Linkedin is the place to rest and vest MSFT RSU’s. People seem to be generally laid back with no urgency. You’ll get a response in about a month.
This cracked me up lol!
Lc easy medium or hard?
LC meds leaning towards easy may be. In other words a slight twist on a couple of the common LC easy'
For me, it was 1 Medium and 2 Hard!
you have 2 design rounds for senior swe? or was it 1 design and 1 past project? From my experience with FANG and alike companies, you most likely needs to perfect all your interviews, one slight mistake might result in downlevel or even rejection. Good luck, but if you do have other offers, there is nothing to worry about. Normally if it is a good news it’ll come in a week. However, team matching scene at Linkedin now is pretty bad, you probably want to let your recruiter know about your offers so they can try to speed things up. Context: Team-matching phase, 1 month and counting
Sorry. 1 Design and 1 Past project. But it seemed like a system design interview, that’s why! Thanks a lot for the detailed reply. Yeah, it kind of makes sense because the other 2 offers I got, I nailed all the interviews there. So, not expecting any positive reply from LinkedIn! I have messaged and told my recruiter and she said that she is expediting it and I will present it to HC ASAP!
@OP - How many yoe you have, and were the coding questions LC medium level or hard?
3 YOE. 1 LC Medium. 1 LC Hard. 1 not on LC (but hard).
Which track?
Applications track!
OP: did you hear back from them? I’m in same boat.
Cleared HC but got down-leveled to Software Engineer position. No headcount. Asked to keep my hopes up and wait indefinitely.
That sucks. Hope you get better opportunity as you’re already warmed up for interviews.
You can most likely expect an offer or a rejection
I understand he may get an offer bit it's hard for me to envision it
After 10 mins of thinking, is this the funniest shit you could come up with? Come on!!
