It’s a big group, so the specifics vary by team. If you’re supporting a live service that is having a rough quarter, there can be some tough weeks, but generally wlb is solid. I know multiple people who have had success with getting promoted as IC after deciding they didn’t want to be managers, so prospects are pretty good.

Thank you for the reply! By "tough weeks", how tough is it? Also, how's the job security and leadership/management for this group? Seems like the group is growing (saw multiple openings in various teams within this group a few weeks ago). Thanks!

If you’re talking about the central data science team on SDI, I don’t think they work ot at all, they operate more like consultants and plan on a quarterly basis. The groups who work directly with the live products may work extra hours if a critical pipeline breaks at a critical time - ie revenue reporting. I haven’t worked with many of their managers, so I can’t comment on that, but I’ve never heard of layoffs affecting that team. The only time I’ve seen major layoffs at EA is when a studio gets shut down, and even then there are a lot of efforts to find other places for people internally. The flip side is that we are much more conservative about hiring.
