Curious to hear from folks in IBM? Seems like coming from research background. How is he shaping IBM's strategy and internal morale? TC: 500k
Meh.
Better than the last one, but that’s a pretty low bar
I'd say the last one was like having no CEO. She self-admittedly spent most of her time dealing with client escalations which is something that could've been delegated so easily.
+ she is still making $1m/year salary through IBM :)
Internal morale may be at all-time low, considering no more 401k matching and shifting to pension type plan
Meh.
Board asked him to focus on revenue and stock growth at any cost - check how those are trending since 2021
isn't that a de-facto? what's new with board asking him
He is asked to focus on shifting operations to India . Arvind is the face of it . It’s a strategic decision by the board.. better than Ginny , however he is also an IBM product
He is defn taking big, tough and imp bets. Everyone use to say it but he is executing it. I liked the way he kicked kyndryl out. Focus on cloud and now AI with partnership with Meta. Hope these good bets work out. Rem this company has been here for 100 years and seen many such industry ups and downs!
Kinda a quack, hoping to see more from him from this WatsonX shift but still hasn’t delivered internal or externally
I’m surprised by all the Ginni hate. She may not have been good for shareholders but she was pretty good for employees and had a focus on employee growth and learning. Arvinds the opposite. It’s very clear now the one and only thing that matters in this company is shareholders. Not clients, not excellence, and certainly not employees. Also no transparency in the company these days. I don’t know how all these comments are claiming to know what came from the board. IBM leadership won’t communicate at all. Worrying amount of the highest level women in the company have seemingly been fired in the last year or two. I don’t know
Spot on. I had high hopes for Arvind but he has proven time and again that he has zero regard (let alone loyalty) to the employees that line his pockets. Any trained monkey could satisfy shareholders through layoffs and LCC hires. Conversely it takes a real leader to take on big bets AND inspire employees to execute the vision. He's completely missed the boat and morale is at an absolute all time low. He and his C team have flat out said they don't care: "just shut up and 3x". The fact that he brought in McKinsey says it all. He has no idea how to run an enterprise and his resolution was to bring in the worst of the worst.
H3c, if an exec is not creating value for shareholders and client then it's a Big red flag. I am not sure what you mean by employee value which was created( high raise, stocks, growth, comp?) under her. Even the so-called esop issued during 100 years celeb lost its value under her. If a company has to survive , it requires high effort and results.

I saw a Googler ( Male ) hit a lady multiple times in the cafe, should I report?
You got an CEO offer?
Well we hardly hear about IBM CEOs. It is mostly other FAANG CEOs. If MS can have a great comeback story why not IBM? Just wanted to know what ppl on the ground think about their CEO.
