How is ICE in terms of career growth , future prospects and work culture? Can’t find much about it online thanks TC:0 #tech #swe #software
Been working at ice for about 2 years now. It’s okay, pay is below average, lots of proprietary or old tech, incompetent upper management, wlb can be unbearable depending on the team, growth is slow. With that said, if you’re later into your careeer and don’t really care much for career growth, competitve pay, or “hustle” then this could be a good choice. Lots of people working her for 10-15 years because there’s virtually no layoffs and it’s got good benefits . Personally I’m looking to leave
i see , i have about 3 yoe rn . I can’t find much about ICE online so had to hop on to blind. what are some of the benefits?
Pretty good healthcare, 401k match is (iirc) 6%, ESPP, okay bonuses (mine is 20%, not sure what it'd be for other levels), floating holidays and FTO. The benefits overall aren't super competitive but they're okay. No tuition reimbursement, and they don't pay for certifications.

Can't speak much to career growth, seems possible but I'm sure it'd depend on the level you come in at. Regarding work culture, things move pretty slow here if you've ever worked at another large enterprise in a heavily regulated industry you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, lots of red tape, formal request processes, segregation of duties, change management, tight security controls, etc. It's fine if you're looking for that, but it's not for everyone.
lets assume entering at 2-3 YOE . how stable is ICE?
I'd say quite stable, if you want somewhere to hunker down for a bit during the layoff storm this is probably a good place to do it.
