Specifically talking about mailchimp business line and looking at non software engineering roles. Keen to hear more about - comp - wlb - culture - benefits - hybrid/remote work policy I have an MBA and I’m in a business role at Uber. My work is becoming super toxic and after spending 6 years at Uber I think it’s time to move on Any inputs and feedback would be much appreciated Tc - $400k
Mailchimp is a total unorganized shit show. Anywhere else would be better
TurboTax ?how is that ?
stay away. Way too much favoritism and politics. Unless that is your thing.
I understand. My motivation is to get a break into product management which is hard to get into. I’m currently in a business ops role and moving to Product management is hard
Try to go towards legacy product lines. It could be better.. like TurboTax QBO etc
Politics, bootlicking. Stay away from this shit
Don’t join Intuit if you care about your mental health and happiness. It’s another job with benefit but these are not worth the bigger price you end up paying. I made the mistake of being loyal to the employer and contributing with passion which get masked by sh*t load of politics and favoritism. I am actively looking out.
100% true. By any chance are you from IDC?
Moving to Mailchimp would be the worst move of your career, and there isn’t even good wlb to even things out. Just don’t do it. The product and company is dying, leadership is flailing to try to right the ship but they have toxic mid level managers that don’t know what the fuck they’re doing, which is helping accelerate the tanking of the business. Stay far far away.
Thanks for your response. My motivation is to get into product management and leave after 2-3 years after getting the experience I’m in a business ops role and getting a break into product management is hard. A recruiter reached out so want to grab this opportunity
MC is not the place to learn product. Take my word for it, you’ll end up learning horrible habits and start your PM career with a skewed notion of what product is that will be harder to unlearn than if you start at a company that practices good product. I’ve mentored a number of PMs and aspiring PMs and helped people transition from ops roles into product. If you have further questions lmk.
@thuukg mind if I message you about Intuit/mailchimp too? OP, best of luck in transitioning to product management. You got this.
Sure

Hmm sorry what does that mean
I think uber to Mailchimp is not a good career progression. Would suggest to look for better companies
