How is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)?
There is a possibility I will get an offer for Solutions Architect in OCI. The team I spoke to all seemed very smart, nice, and humble. And I know some smart people that work there. From what I gather, OCI is pretty different from core Oracle. Can someone tell me how the culture, work life balance, salary, coworkers, etc #Oracle #OCI
What org did you interview with?
Don't want to be too specific but in one of the three storage teams
No problem, unfortunately i don't know much about storage org anyway. My experience talking with SAs from a Virtual Networking org is positive. OCI is growing so it's going through a lot of growing pains. It hasn't matured yet but there are many smart people and you can potentially make impact.

Is the pay really good?
Yes there is big pay difference between oci and vanilla oracle .. oci pays almost same as some faang
Does OCI give yearly refreshers ?
Salary is pretty good in OCI for IC-2 but I think as you go up in levels, they don't compare too well with other FANGs. WLB is overall not very good as we had a org wide meeting that talked about our employee survey and we had a negative rating on our WLB/Retention. That said however, my team personally have slightly below average WLB. but still ok compared to other teams.
What was the technical interview like? I have an interview tomorrow, any advice would be helpful.
I would say pass. I have been with OCI for a year. They pay crap and their bonuses are a pipe dream. This is my second go around with them. The only payout like 10-30% of whatever your bonus number was. I had a 60k target bonus but was only paid out 20k So my total comp was 40k less than what I thought it would be. Don't count on the bonus and the stock price hasn't done anything in a year. I am interviewing with AWS.
Is this true for oracle across the board or just oci? Interviewing for a sales engineer role and the bonus is 30% of the OTE so If I only get half, that's a big difference
Yes it's good last I interviewed, people are smart open and other than the fact they hate oracle, it's all good. I don't know what's latest in covid area.
