Is it a good idea to switch from Amazon to Pinterest? (Tech role) TC: 200K
Good idea. There were ~150 people let go a year ago but they were targeted for performance. So it kind of felt like a layoff because they were so close together but it wasn’t random. Since then we’ve been hiring and no layoffs in Eng. Things seem pretty good. I think most teams have good culture.
No layoffs are random, they are always performance related
They often target certain business units and in large corps like Google or meta they legally have to have a degree of randomness to them. It’s entirely untrue that they are always performance related. If it’s performance it’s actually just not a layoff.
Move from Amazon to any where is most likely a good idea. How do I know? Been there, done that
Haha. Yea I’m looking for better opportunities outside and let’s see how it goes
I have been in the Pinterest team match process for a while. They don’t have much SWE headcount and I know several people in the same boat. Their business might be stable but it doesn’t seem to be growing much
Terrible idea
Can you explain why it is terrible?
