From what I know, it's quite common to work on an unofficial job (cashier, restaurant server, Uber driver, etc) while on an F1 visa or H1 visa while being employed only on paper at some company to not accrue unemployment days. And majority of these folks never get caught or have any action taken against them. The cases where someone gets caught are very rare. Examples of people that got by - 1. I know one person who was working as a cashier (unofficially) while being employed (on paper only) at some no name company to not lose unemployment days on F1 visa. In fact, the company is specifically for such people who pay the company to save their unemployment days. He managed to do that for a year, leave the US, come back to the US, do another master's degree from a no name university (somewhat fraudulently) and get a legit job afterwards. 2. Similarly, another person I know "worked" for 6 months after his master's degree with some no name company owned by his uncle (only on paper again). He never went to work there even for a day but instead kept studying and interviewing comfortably for months. Eventually he got a full time job at a legit company and earns a lot. I have a few more such examples (e.g a guy who lied about having 8 years of work ex and landed a good client job, a Telegu guy that drive Uber while studying at an Andhra-ite university only on paper, etc). So how do these people get by and never get caught? Is UCSIS really the incompetent or unaware of what's happening? #workvisa #h1b #f1visa
I agree with the importance of privacy laws, but it's worth calling out that these illegals are not even few. Just look around next time you go to any $ or $$ Indian restaurant, or grocery store, or just chat with your Indian Uber driver about what they're up to. It's actually much more common than we think. Most of those are overstaying their visa, or employed on paper. A person from the latter category has occupied a seat that someone truly deserving lost and had to leave because of that.
It is hard to do so because US has high standards on Indian individuals and dont want to lose talents maybe? Bunch of these crap human with money are desperate to fraud the system, USCIS is understaffed to find these roaches in system. Just ignore and move on, hope karma gets these b*tches
Lol look at Mr. Ego Boost here.
Ego? Nah. Cheat system ?
I bet all of these guys are TELEGU Also you forgot to mention those that don’t do sh.it in terms of hard work but just marry some poor American girl and get a GC While the hardworking folks are running the gauntlet of H1B and layoffs I know a guy who didn’t do a thing in his Masters… worked illegally both before and after masters in Indian restauran and grocery stores… and then married an American girl he met on Tinder. Though I am somewhat frustrated, I have to admit that he played his cards well
Very true in the first sentence… super bold on illegality !
First learn the spelling of "Telugu" before generalizing! You're talking as if All the Biharis and Punjabis are here legally and are not driving Ubers here! Lol
Good for them man. Appreciate the hustle . Don’t see why you are triggered
Encouraging illegal activity is not good mate. Mindset like this lets the opportunity being slipped away or scrutinized for real hardworking individuals.
See my other comment on what this is wrong on so many levels. Real hard workers have to suffer and leave the country because of these cheaters.
People bending rules and moving up, as long as they do not do serious crime build the country up over time. More fruitful than h1b holders who accomplish nothing but hold on to their IT paychecks forever and complain about others.
Child dude and do your work. There are so Many illegal immigrants coming.
You seem to be young and entitled. People survive in a different ways, it’s not like they are pretending to work 9-5 from home and taking 400k home. They are busting their asses in 12-16 hour shifts to pay for bogus universities. Infact, I pity them. What would you do if you are a mediocre academically and India has no opportunities for you and your H1 wasn’t picked in last attempt??
This 👆👆👆
@walmart… you are confusing misfortune with illegal intent They are two completely separate things. Majority of people who work illegally really want to be illegal. They have no bloody remorse for what they are doing.
I’m so confused. F1 visa holders don’t need to be employed on paper to not lose unemployment days. They shouldn’t work at all other than in a few edge cases. What’s wrong with people working? There are plenty of people in this country who don’t and enjoy Medicare on the state’s dime for example. Let those who want to work work.
F1 holders are eligible to work for a year on OPT after graduation. They get a certain number of days as unemployment days in case they lose their job, or they did not get a job after graduation.
That’s the edge case scenario I mentioned. So OP’s claim is that F1 visa holders instead of working in a line of work associated with the major are taking low pay jobs instead? I hardly see it as a problem. After they spent thousands of dollars to get a degree from a US university I feel sorry for them doing low skill labor
The government can always deport them later. Why the rush?

Quitting this Slave life
Why have you tagged google, Intel and amazon? Are you so bothered by people working hard to pull themselves up in life?
@google : This is not hardwork. This is outrightly illegal. You cannot make a calculated move to cheat a system and then call it hardwork. These people are fraudulent and bring a bad name to all immigrants, including those like myself that took the legit path to coming to the US.
Just look at (1) in op s example. If that isn’t a story of determination, I don’t know what is. And no, they don’t bring a bad name to anybody.
