Wondering if I should schedule the initial phone screen interview or not since I’m pretty far into my job search and expecting a couple offers this week. How is it at Blizzard? What can I expect the pay range to be for a remote employee (I checked levels already seemed pretty scattered). Job is Software Engineer - Data. #engineering #software #swe #blizzard YOE: 4 TC: 110k 🥜
Growth Global Marketing?
Yes
It’s a tough time and they go very slow hiring. If you offers it is not likely they will speed the process to stay competitive. This happened to me last year.
My god it’s slow. Hiring manager said he was moving me forward and haven’t heard anything from the recruiter in days. So strange. Thanks for the heads up on it being slow.
If you care about TC, stay far away. It's total shit compared to basically any of the big or mid-level tech companies. Latest raises were 2-5% depending on your performance rating. Which is stack ranked on most teams.
It's probably going to be pretty bumpy over there with the impending acquisition. It'll take a while but things are probably already in the process of changing slowly, and will speed up rapidly by Q4 2022/Q1 2023. On the bright side, they got acquired by a company that has a much better reputation. I went through an acquisition by a company with a shittier reputation a couple years ago and slowly saw the culture shift towards the shittier company and then rapidly speed up about 8 months after the announcement. If you're alright with high attrition, golden parachutes catching current execs on their way out the door, and rapidly adjusting company direction roadmaps it'll probably be alright. If you end up with a better offer than the Blizz one it'll probably be best to go that route though and reapproach a Blizz opportunity when the new hires start getting Microsoft mugs alongside the Blizzard mugs in their new hire care packages. Gl either way. I am probably on the more negative side of the acquisition fence because my experience still makes my upset nearly a year after I left so take it with a grain of salt. If anyone else posts whose been part of a company acquired by a Big N their opinions might be better tailored. PillPack and Amazon is the first one that comes to mind, but there are probably a ton of other recently acquired companies you could tag here to get more insight.
