How is it that India churns out millions of software engineers yet does not have any prestigious software companies?

I can’t recall a single Indian software company that isn’t WITCH. Japan has Nintendo, Sony, etc. China has DJI, Alibaba, etc. Even Polish devs have created the venerable Witcher and Cyberpunk 2049. Yet, the country that has a 150+ yr GC wait queue because of its software engineers don’t have one memorable tech company. Wtf.

But Blind says Satya is good

Zeotap prochamp Feb 6

Indians tend to be risk averse and starting up requires a much higher level of risk reward tolerance. Satya at the end of the day was an employee

Also not a single semi conductor company.

We decided instead to export people to the US and conduct mass layoffs. Also, since westerners looted trillions of dollars of our wealth, we thought the least we can do is steal their jobs; after all, why should westerners have all the fun, eh?

You think Americans had anything to do with the exploitation of India? Keep dreaming.

Well, Britain doesn’t have a tech industry to boast of, so we settled for the next best thing: their big brother on the other side of the pond.

The Indian government has been cutting the education budget constantly for the last 10 years. The latest cut is the biggest 61%, and stupid supporters are calling it the most progressive budget 🙄

From what I understand, Indians have this mentality of working for a big stable company with good pay as a dream job. They prioritize safety above all else. Risk taking is highly discouraged. Even exploration is discouraged. All the above is probably due to the survival mindset of the previous generation. I think the younger Indian generation will recognize the limits of strictly pursuing safety and see the potential of risk taking and exploration.

So India does have Flipkart (the Amazon competitor) that acquired by Walmart, Ola (the competitor to Uber), PayTM (until recently a booming digital payment conpany) a handful of unicorn startups, and most of the US tech companies that (surprisingly) have their world’s biggest offices in India paying a decent TC. Couldn’t Google/ Bing this information? Or just wanted to cast shade on India?

That wasn’t the question.
