I am interested in the work. Database engine sounds like something very fancy and looks very good on your resume. Looks like I can learn a lot as well. In reality is it the same as I assume above? Do guys have a lot of time to do real db engine dev or optimization? Or is it just oncall hell like the rest aws?
90% of your time will go in fighting operations issues. Ask them how many open tickets do they have.
That's why you moved to salesforce? Or did you move from salesforce to aws? I have another offer from salesforce though...
I moved from Amazon to Salesforce. DM me if you want information on both.
DB Engines used to be hot 20 years ago. Cloud used to be hot 10 years ago. AI/ML is the new hotness.
What do you think?
I don't know. I am deciding which offer to choose. If it's true database engine dev work and not that much oncall I will choose it.
You will learn a lot, but don't expect db engine work on a platter. Your initial months there will be primarily ops.
