A recruiter contacted me for a SWE role in Transportation engineering org. Anyone here knows whether it's a good team ? In terms of interesting work, not too much of legacy, on-call & ops load, competent management, smart co-workers etc.
I interview for this org in Hyderabad. The work is challenging, you'll have access to principle engineers as well. But one of the teams here owns a lot of Tier 1 applications which do bring operational load with them.
So possibly interesting work, but also potentially high ops load. Any toxic managers in this org whose team should be avoided ?
Is this team geographically distributed ? If yes, in which cities of India?
On call and ops load is VERY HIGH in this org.
Do people actually get to build new features & services, or are they dealing with ops 24x7 ?
For which location? Which particular org in transportation? And level in SWE role?
India-Hyderabad. Idk which org under Transportation. SDE2
I would suggest to ask team or have a call with hiring manager. There are varied teams based on your parameters. If you want less on-call burden, got to teams which are internal tools. If you are okay with oncall burdon for high visibility, go to actual business teams. Usually, you should be tagged to Hiring Manager upfront. So even if not specific team but sub org could be shared by recruiter.
