The glassdoor ratings have slid pretty dramatically, especially for career growth and WLB, compared to what they were just a couple years ago (this is after filtering on engineers). What's the story there nowadays? Growing pains? Things just as much rainbows and unicorns as before?
My understanding is that culture fit is secondary - that you need to pass their technical bar before the culture fit interview results are even considered.
2cool&culty5me (aka agree with Pinterest friend) during their interview Also inb4 Uber bro but I think their business model is inherently more destructive to cities and needs to actually be regulated. Their offers tend to be good though :)
Growing pains, other companies I have worked at have been far worse when trying to scale up. After being #1 on Glassdoor there is no where to go but down. I think we will be moving back up soon, Airbnb is fairly young and experimental so some up and down swings should be expected.
What are the major issues with WLB? How does WLB compare to Google/etc today?
@suetella, WLB is overall way better than a few years ago, but depends a lot on the team. There are lots of eng teams, so you can pick one that fits with your preferences.
They should offer me 1.5-2x comp, so no...
#1 Glassdoor rating was inflated by a coordinated effort in the first place.
You will be forced to support BLM right?
Airbnb didn't give me an interview for a SF eng role last year because I'm an Asian male.
What's an exploding offer?
It's basically an offer with a very short expiration date.
It's not as great - obviously don't compare with conmen like Uber :)
I had the same question. The fall is dramatic compared to other similar companies.
