I’m a new grad student expecting an offer from them, and heard that they are very heavy on pair programming. The guy I interviewed with said that he sometimes pair programs all day long with clients, so im a little worried about my WLB suffering. Would rly appreciate any insight on how working there actually is! #engineering #software #swe #vmware #offer
I pair program all day, and love it. You obviously take frequent breaks and work at a sustainable pace. It’s nice because of how quickly you’ll learn things and also no code reviews! I wouldn’t want to work another way. If I’m going to jump to a new company, it’d also have to have pair programming as a major way of working.
Great people and interesting work. Especially getting to work with good designers and product managers who involve you in decisions and make sure you’re always able to work on something valuable.

It’s 8 hours of nonstop pairing but you will learn the ropes so quickly. I wish I had gotten this exposure early on in my career. Huge growth and learning opportunities, not to mention you’ll be closer to jumping to Google and other companies after a short time.
Actually 8 hours of pairing? Is that not extremely exhausting?
We also finish strictly at 18:00. Never any rush to finish things or overtime.
