Doesn’t everyone just use Google reviews? Genuinely curious what’s going on here. TC 300kish
I feel like Yelp gets by entirely on name recognition and their partnership with Apple.
I use both to see if the reviews align well ever since I found out the Google reviews of a former business I used published fake reviews and Yelp had the real reviews from the angry customers.
Google reviews are fake, yelp does does good job of filtering out fake reviews
My family owns a chain restaurant and knows a lot of other business owners. Yelp notoriously calls to ask if you want to remove bad reviews to “help improve your reputation“ for a borderline extortion price…
I have a hard time believing this is commonly held wisdom, and even if it is doesn’t seem like much of a moat.
Doesn’t everyone just use Google Gemini?
You are asking wrong questions. Are Google reviews relevant at all?
Yelp has 30 M monthly unique users. Google Maps has 1 B. Even if only 10% of Google Maps users look at reviews, that's 3x more than Yelp.
But most of reviews on google are fake. I know many businesses that have fake reviews on google.
Both are full of fake reviews as far as I can see.
Google review? 🤣
I see plenty of restaurants using the yelp waitlist app. I use yelp reviews as well. Google reviews are trash sometimes. Not enough photos.
Aside from restaurants, local services is going strong and grabbing market share from competitors in the space. Having zero debt probably helps the company stay afloat too.
There are no Google Elites
