I have an offer from Apple (TC: ~450K). How much gap should I leave between my last day at my current job and my start date at Apple? Please share your experience. Update: I ended up taking no gap for a complicated reason.
OP just wanted to share his new TC, eh.
A Blind rule: Every post has to have your TC :)
Nah I don't care for that rule lol. Stick to it for topics where it makes sense. Congrats and good luck!
Anything over 30-45 days will feel a bit awkward unless you have a solid reason behind it.
Nah. No one cares unless it's over 6 months and you have a legit reason to talk about it
So, let me get this straight, OP has accepted an offer for a new job. Now he’s going to tell the recruiter and hiring Manager — who likely has specific projects they want the new hire to work on — that he won’t be joining for 6 months. And that’s supposed to fly over well with the HM?
nobody cares
what level and yoe?
OP, curious, why do you want a break at all? How do you plan to spend the gap time?
To refresh. I am not planning to travel. Just stay home with my family.
To rest and reinvent yourself? They don’t want some tired, stressed person showing up on the first day
Take some time for yourself, life is too short :)
YOE?
Take the gap. Take a week for nothing then go do something significantly memorable with your family
How do you manage healthcare while taking the time off? That’s my biggest concern with larger gaps, tbh.
I took a month off and just paid out of pocket for my previous employers insurance. It wasn’t cheap but so worth it
COBRA or just min/max your benefits and quit on the 1st of the month so you are covered for the rest of the month.
