SWE that at the end of the year lost my job. Started this year letting the floodgates open for interviewing. Last week had to undergo emergency exploratory surgery on my abdomen, still in the hospital due to complications. At least my COBRA insurance kicked in after multiple phone calls while I was in here (didn't have insurance when I went in). I've contacted the 7 recruiters I was in various stages with, telling them the situation and told them I'll let them know when we might start picking interviewing up again once I'm home. I still don't know all my recovery details, but I'll have a nursing assistant for at least 3 weeks. And once my body is more healed, I want to take a little time to get back into mental shape. This whole thing has wrecked me physically, emotionally, and mentally. How long is too long to recover?
Health is #1. Take ur time yo recover.. but also since a lot of headcount things get weird at the start of a new quarter I guess also don’t assume that the positions you applied to are still open so definitely apply a bit to new openings
Relax buddy.. what good is a TC if you don’t have good health? How is the financial situation?
Nothing is too long, but there's such a thing as too soon. Don't gamble with your health. Opportunities come and go - no need to sweat it.
