Surely one of our Uber Blind brothers would be willing to throw us a bone and give us some numbers?
An Uber driver told me Uber:Lyft request ratio is about 4:1 today compared to the usual 4:1 ratio. This is in Seattle downtown.
Wtf ?
TK is delusional and thinks he can make social change on Trumps economic advisory board and tried to defend himself with all these PR stunts while dragging the company down with him... [once again] we are super insensitive to current events going on in the US and turned off surge for JFK when there were protests going on for Trumps new ban. General public wanted surge on to make a statement and be in solace with the Taxi drivers that were protesting at JFK because how the Muslim ban affected their workforce. But Uber was like we give zero fucks were a business and we'll work with whatever government is in place, blah, blah, blah... TLDR: Uber employees are scrambling to justify poor PR moves and TK/Trump relationship because of #deleteuber. No one at Uber is really willing to accept we're in the wrong.
maybe I'm am idiot but I don't understand why turning off surge is bad? it makes it cheaper for protesters to get to and from the protest. wasn't it a whole scandal when they *didn't* turn it off in emergency situations?
yeah I don't understand the logic either
I agree that that situation is a little bizarre.
Surge was turned off after the taxi strike had ended. Lots of misinformation and fake news happening, but there's such a raging hate frenzy for Uber for the actual shitty things we've done that it doesn't matter what we do now. Turn off surge? You're breaking the strike! Leave surge on? You're profiteering from the strike! Provide millions in financial/legal support for impacted drivers? You're just trying to get good PR! Congrats to Lyft for making themselves look good while doing the exact same things as Uber. They have execs on Trump's automation panel. They operated during the taxi strike. Their $1MM ACLU donation (over 4 years) is a nice gesture, but doesn't do anything to actually help people who need it right now.
Agree. Both of your companies are shifty for crossing the picket line to begin with.
Neither company has the right to deny drivers the opportunity to work because they want to take a political stand. Uber and Lyft stand to gain money from a strike - both are still operating with losses on each trip. Drivers are the ones who would ultimately be making a sacrifice, and as independent contractors, it's up to them to decide whether to join a protest or earn a living. Also, the whole "scab" thing is bullshit, if we're talking about non-union workers from different organizations. It's like calling Burger King employees scabs for going in to work when McDonalds employees strike.
agree, I think this is terrible reporting
Please don't justify bloggers as calling their work reporting
outrage fatigue is imminent, just in time for truly outrageous things to start happening
And the people working for the companies get screwed by the people deleting the app to protest. Pure genius trying to attack the bottom line of the top while screwing over the people at the bottom.
The published number on the media was 200k Uber accounts.

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.

Maybe he just deleted Uber driver app?
