You know what? Many of those highly paid SWEs suck at managing their money, either over leveraged at mortgage or other liabilities. They are house poor and can't afford to take risks, have to keep running the rat race
Yeah I agree but I also think people underestimate the value of their skills and how little money it can take to get some things off the ground. There’s 0 material cost that goes into building software. Other than hosting and paying for micro-services that usually scale with your product, you’re not spending much money to start. I think the problem is that people don’t look outwards at all the possibilities, rather they’re brainwashed for “prestige” school and “prestige” company so they can be “prestige” slaves
