I currently hold these certifications rhsca , aws sa , ansible , red hat openshift , red hat openstack and proficient skills in python , docker , and Jenkins. I have 2 yr experience as a sys admin how much TC should I look for while looking for devops or sre positon willing to relocate anywhere in the country currently in mn. Current TC 80k......totally willing to relocate anywhere in the states
Depending yoe 100k is base and 20 k for every 3 years. Top I seen in California for base was 200k tops I seen in Massachusetts is 170k bonus is usually starting at 5 maxes at 12 to 15 depending on your bargaining power. And stock is based on that as well. But can be from 100k to 300k over 4. That's what I've seen in the market so far. From hiring and interviewing.
FYI certifications on your resume tend to imply less drive and less real world experience. With those certs if be reluctant to offer much over $120k total comp. Average SRE total comp on my team is $240k average cash comp $155k
I might start looking there
Just out of curiosity what makes you say that about certifications? I don't have any, but I always wondered if they would help distinguish me at all for SRE jobs.
Certs are useless for sre. When I hire I go on what you have learned and how fast you can pick up the needs of the team. Sre is a beast to stay in, you have to move fast and understand productionization. Which most start ups fail to see value in.
NYC minimum 150k. You can make 200-300k in top companies if you know software development.
Please let me know what companies I'm a SRE with software that can't seem to break above 120k in LA
I don't know about LA market. Google pays 240k for SWE-SRE. Lot of hedge funds can pay like that. Two sigma is one of them.
