I have Masters in non CS (but engineering field). I have been working in software for 3+ yrs and I have been doing pretty well. I have been thinking about enrolling for a formal CS program (MSCS). What are your thoughts? Anyone else on the same boat? Should I do it? Also I am on H1B. So I can't quit work.
Why not go for a graduate certificate instead? They are cheaper, you get admission in more prestigious universities and can do while you have a job.
What is a graduate certificate? Can you explain more? Links, etc
Graduate certificate is around a 10-16 credits program with the same courses as in a graduate school program. Normally this will be like a specialization within the larger grad program. For example, database systems in computer science. You select courses within that particular depth. Once you complete the program you get a graduate certificate which is not really a full degree but credits can be counted should you chose to pursue a full degree. You can google an university in your area. For example search for Stanford graduate certificates
What were your BS and MS majors? Why if you’re already doing great in software in a company like 🍎? You’re already in. What concerns do you have at this point?
