Its the end of year again, care sharing your expenses? In the following format: 1, City 2, Size of family 3, Total expenses (including housing) 4, Cost of housing (rent or mortgage) I will start: 1, Great Seattle area 2, Family of 3 3, Total expenses 120K 4, Mortagage 28K
What area do you live op?
Seattle
Boring and redundant
People have too much time, too many stupid things to compare. Why do you have to compare everything?
This is one of the most helpful threads I've seen in a while.
1. SF Bay area 2. Me and bae 3. Total expenses roughly $85k 4. Rent $25k
1. OC 2. Me + wife + kiddo 3. 150k 4. Mortgage 50k
Wow, 100k on what?
1. Seattle 2. Wife and I 3. 80k 4. Renting, 20k
1. Seattle 2. Single 3. 140k 4. Mortgage, 48k
how the hell do you spunk away 90k as an individual?
NYC (Hoboken NJ) Just me 33k 22k (Shithole) I'm guessing I'm going to win lowest expenses on this thread lol
These are not living expenses. These are surviving expenses 😂
Back in SF, I pretty much only ate company food and lived in the corner of a living room. Even wasting a few k on my car, I'm pretty sure I spent under 24k. That's how my savings look half decent despite my horribly low TC.
1. Ashburn, VA 2. Me 3. $42,133 4. Mortgage (w/HOA fees): 25k 5. TC (or GTFO): 135k
How do you calculate total expenses? I mean how do you even keep track of it?
I use mint
This is probably overboard, but I keep a Google doc with a sheet for each month and categories for each expense type. At the end of every month I put all of my expenses from my credit card and checking account into their corresponding categories. I've found that having to type in every single swipe of the card makes me much more aware of my spending habits rather than just scrolling through my statements every few months.
