A lot. Not just because of comp - it has trickle down effects like higher attrition and more re-orgs. All around bad time.
It encourages attrition because jumping ship has even more upside due to low stock price at competitors, should the market bounce back.

Pretty sure most people can live off their base salary; if they're not keeping up with the Joneses then it's not an issue. But that also depends on how long the downward trajectory lasts. A year might be fine. Past that? It might be an issue.
Senior people whoβs comp gets cut in half will just move somewhere else, leaving the company full of people that never got high stock compensationβ¦ basically the least valuable employees.
