Let’s say you got the interview with the company. How much does your resume actually matter when coming to a hiring decision after you’re already in the interview process? Seems like it doesn’t matter that much from my opinion, they mostly care about how good you are at algo and ds (leetcode) and 45-60 min. “system design” (designing YouTube, instagram, or Twitter). Sorry just a little bit 🧂
Imo resume is entirely for filtering out apps before interview process.
Seems like you don’t need a resume with stints at FAANGMULA and 3x IMO qualifier. Just need decent gpa, decent school, and referrals at the company and that’s it.
Isn’t gpa and a school a part of a resume?
At least at Amazon, it's mattered a tiny bit in "potential" arguments for when looking at someone who made far too many mistakes in an interview. If their experience on their resume says that they should have performed better in the interview, then I've seen people give a no hire decision. If their experience on their resume is inline with their performance, I've seen some borderline candidates get a hire because of coachability/potential. In other words if you're not good at interviewing, it might be good to look less experienced on your resume. However you might get down leveled.
^^ resume is primarily used to help shape an interview plan and also calibrate expectations. The only cases I've seen where a resume was scrutinized after a 'hire' decision from a committee was either when a hiring manager was concerned about domain-specific experience or there was a conflict with the comp team.
The résumé is simply a movie trailer to get them to watch the full thing…a.k.a. bring you in for an interview. Can’t imagine it matters much after the interviews are completed.
Also, blind tax what is your TC and YOE?
Depends on your interview performance
