Do prospects appear to be reduced ? Do recruiters appear less enthusiastic during conversations ? Looking for overall feedback. Not asking about impact to TC or financials. Just “industry value” I guess TC : 150k/ 1 YOE Should have clarified: I’m not in a tech role. Mostly interested to learn about supply chain management and other non tech roles.
Yeah prob not great for your career to swap over to Walmart greeter. Otherwise doesn't matter much. Everytime someone joins my org they come from some large company not particularly known for their tech
What is Walmart greeter ?
Going down from faang will not hurt getting back to faang. But it will hurt getting up to faang+ (firms better than faang)
I just want to know who are the companies that are giving 150k for 1 year of experience. I mean seriously either these companies take inflation very seriously. Or they are stupid as F and then the result is massive layoffs.
Seriously, one year and 150k. So for 5 they must be paying well over 700k right
Bro think of the prestige JK stop taking everything so seriously and live ur life
I know. I’m trying to, trust me. Just finding it hard to ignore years of conditioning.
I’ve worked in Supply Chain and Operations for 2 fortune 50 non-faang companies in manufacturing and healthcare tech. Supply chain or business/pm non tech jobs at those companies would start at $60-80k. Level increases every 2-4 years adding 10-15% for each level (typically 3-4 levels of IC roles). Year over year increases from 2-5%. It would take 8-10 years to achieve a $150k salary. IC yearly bonuses range 4-8%. Manager ranges from $100-$160k, Sr Manager $140-$200k and Director $200k +. Manager yearly bonus 8-15%. 401k matching is much better than faang (50% match up to 8% ) and vest immediately. These companies also had performance based discretionary cash and stock award incentives available. They had better wlb and little to no fear of PIP. They offered tuition reimbursement for degree or cert programs. Top performers could earn close to a faang TC in non-tech roles. SDE roles at these companies make only 20% more than comparative business level roles and cannot compete with the $300-500k TC of faang developers.
Finally a reply based on reality and not just entitlement. Thank you @amazoniask for proving the point.
Eventually they send you to prison for it ..
You put tesla in the same league as Walmart and chewy? Let us know if you get an offer from Tesla, or heck, even you can get a phone call from a Tesla recruiter, assuming you’re a SWE. You seem to be living under a rock for a while, you are embarrassing yourself.
For supply chain experience Walmart , Costco Wayfair etc other retailers should be great experience . Besides Amzn who else in FAANG has such supply chain exposure besides maybe some IT hardware or Device hardware .

Database companies that pay well for Staff SWE
I would say for each of those, and within FAANG, there are different associations with different companies. It also depends on the recruiter, your team and experiences, and most importantly... How well can you Leetcode?
