Currently in Austin TX , full stack Developer with 9+ years of exp. Currently making - 85k + benefits + annual bonus(max upto 5k) No scope of appraisals or growth... Looking for a new job how much should I settle for in terms of Base pay ?
I’m with XhAw11 on this on. Not to mention, unlike Seattle or Bay Area, the 2 sea shell lunch doesn’t taste like dog 💩 #WestCoastSnobWillProbablyMakeCommentAboutLackOfDiversityBecauseTheyAreBrainDeadAboutAnythingOutsideTheirBubble
New grads for Dell pay 90k +8% annual bonus
New grads at IBM get 110k base in Austin.
Probably very few. Most I've met were paid 70-85k with bachelors
Holy cow! 9years making 85k? You are wayyyy underpaid! Go get that money!
You are way underpaid. I would suggest refusing to give your current compensation, simply say it is “under-market” if pressed. My guess is the reason you are having trouble asking for $120k is because you are giving your current comp and HR departments generally throw up on giving people 50% comp bumps for changing jobs even if it is well deserved for the role. I think with 9 years you should be able to easily get $150k+ even in states like Texas.
Thanks !!
Switch companies dude. Go outside of Austin if need be. I’m in Dallas and make more as someone with under 1 year exp. PM me if you want to talk more. Good luck!
Honestly though, look in the Northern Virginia area if you don’t have an issue with relocating to there
Apply to Amazon's Austin office and you will more than double your comp. I make $190K with 3 YOE @ Amazon Austin...
Thanks everyone... I feel motivated now. I have an offer for 105 + bonus etc etc .. but still I feel I should target for minimum $120 k
You should target minimum 150 (total comp, not salary). I recently got offers for 128K base salary at a local Austin startup and you have 6 more YOE
What company did you join ?
Ur way undepaid
I know ... that’s why asking . I asked companies for 120k and they were hesitant! Even one of the recruiters said I was too stern on my salary expectations!! Considering it’s Austin
Not in Texas, where a house is 300k , and a lunch at a decent place will cost you two sea shells.
