I just recently moved to San Diego and cost of living is much higher here! How much should I expect to earn as an Applications Engineer? I know the average when I graduated was listed as 60k, but not sure if that’s the case in San Diego.
Smaller company TV prob around $90k
Should be at least $100k. Didn’t you negotiate before moving?
It kind of depends. Entry level defense jobs pay in the range of 65k - 85k. Other places might do a bit better. Intuit pays well from what I've heard but in general software jobs pay less there than say SF or Seattle.
If Intuit, Qualcomm, or faang then it’ll be around 70-90k. 90k end of the spectrum is pretty rare for new graduates
moving to SD, have ms cs, joining defense for 100k

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
$100-170K
Oh wow that’s a lot higher than I asked for.. I see you’re with google though. If I apply for smaller companies I imagine the pay won’t be as high..
No. You will not land that at 22yo in SD. But even 60-100k is plenty to live well in early years in SD. It's worth it. Apple and Amazon are ramping up a lot of hiring. Qualcomm, HP, Illumina, msft....and tons of new startups. VC culture is growing in SD and that is attracting a lot of new biz
