How much weight does an internal referral carry at Amazon?

Just want to know if being recommended by an employee as a good cultural fit will increase my chances vs not having the referral

Amazon Urchin May 4, 2018

Most Amazonians weigh around 140, due to lack of food and general frugality.

That's why it's called "bloated management"

Amazon Phobat May 4, 2018

No, I dont care if you were referred or not. Zero weightage.

Amazon Grasshoppa May 4, 2018

Can be huge weightage if referral comes from a well respected or senior person that goes out of their way to vouch for you

Amazon hires and interviews everybody, that shouldn't make a lot of difference. Maybe surely get a interview for sure.

Amazon FviK27 May 5, 2018

Makes all the difference for entry level. L4 referral should almost guarantee an interview, except for my roommate that fucking botched his resume.

Microsoft AmI3vil May 5, 2018

What did he do?

Depends on if said internal referral lifts

Amazon 🤡clown May 5, 2018

It carries no weight other than securing an interview.

Amazon sarcasticg May 5, 2018

At the best, it can get your resume a thorough look. I doubt referrals have any weight. May be if you know the hiring manager personally and vouch for the candidate, the interview can be expedited. But that's it. Hiring manager and the bar raiser make a collective decision in hiring a candidate.

Amazon Tchachke May 5, 2018

Getting a resume seen is a huge benefit. Beyond that, not much. But getting through that first hurdle is big

Amazon Kaiju17 May 6, 2018

Referral itself through the referral website carries zero weight. Contacting the HM to vouch for your contact and set up a coffee date can influence if they can win over the HM in an informational

This is exactly how I got hired. I have no doubt that my referral had a huge impact on my interview experience.
