I have heard there are annual layoffs and restructuring. How many are usually let go and was there an annual layoff or expected this year. I wanted to understand how bad is the scenario in terms of job security? Trying to judge if the job security is good or not as I am planning to join. #intuit
There is a lot of internal mobility, more from promotions than reorgs. But yes you’ll likely experience some changes in leadership once you’ve been here more than like a quarter ir so. Our fiscal year begins in Aug so the reorg season is right about now. Teams want to be reset into their new org structure to kick off the new year. So if you don’t have your reorg in the next week or so, you start the new Q1 off badly. But people leaving happens at any time and that can cause a reorg, or at least a shift in manager. IDK if this year things are any different this year, but so far it’s been pretty quiet…
Thanks. Does reorgs in such case, also mean layoffs at individual contributor level each year ? So potentially job insecurity at this time of the year ?
Yes, it’s usually clear by the end of the fiscal year, ie end of July!
Are these layoffs based on performance?
Very rare, nothing like Amazon here
Last three or four years it has been annual reorgs with layoffs. Before that it was every 6 months. Not every group is impacted - for example last year the customer success teams were stable but 700 SWEs/PMs/BSAs were let go org wide. This year I suspect customer success and operations to reorg and most attrition will be due do unhappy YE reviews or people just waiting out bonus
Was that last year or 2020 during pandemic? Is it not safe to join if someone’s on visa?
2020 was the 700, 2021 were smaller pops in specific groups. I don't think it's any more unsafe than any other fintech co.
So if I understood it looks like there are frequent layoffs across orgs around July and there can be issues with job stability overall as they are agressive in letting ppl go on regular basis.
Is VMWare still hiring?
No it's hiring freeze in most of the orgs
I’ve had 5 managers in past 3 years.
Oh wow
Are you guys still hiring?
Left a few months ago after 6 years , big layoffs are every 2-4 years, but there is a lot and I mean a lot of rot in the middle at Intuit these days, the Data Science and Analytics teams are absolute hell and essentially dictatorships under the director/M3s, avoid those orgs at all costs at Intuit. GL.
can you please suggest some good orgs and teams at intuit india
Nothing this year
Do the reorgs and layoffs are quite frequent ? And one may end up reporting to different manager or team ?
Only one reorg afaik till now. This year has been very stable.
