I am at a different firm, than Red Hat, where we had a re org few months ago and my new manager was promoted to be a manager for the first time. They are fumbling their way through it, looking at my skip level for every decision, and without full knowledge, history of team and the work we do, they keep saying wasteful things. They give feedback to me in 1:1 which no sane manager would care to bring up, and I learned through my sources that they had a problem with certain action of mine even before they were my manager and now that they became my manager they are bringing up an action that is irrelevant, happened over a 6 months ago and didn’t happen on their watch. All because they had to give us some mid year feedback. I have had many managers in my career, starting with number 1, every odd numbered manager in my career was a godsend and every even numbered manager was a horrible boss. The current one exceeds all the past records for being mediocre at best and annoying. I am thinking for changing my team soon if this continues. #venting Blind Tax 220k
How about...crazy here...talk to them and manage up? They're a new manager. They're still finding their way and don't know what matters and what doesn't. Help them find it.
I thought about it several times but the rapport is not built yet for that, and I knew them before being a manager , I know their personality to be blunt and insensitive
And it doesn’t help that I’m up for promotion and my previous manager was working on it , and this one doesn’t even bring it up , even when I openly asked about it multiple times😩
Some managers leave an impression on you, and for some, you wanna leave your hand impression on their face.
Haha I wish that was an option but we live in civil society 😜
Cope harder snowflake. Welcome to the real world
People leave bad managers. That explains why every even number manager has been bad imo
Well true, it has been such a disaster every time some re org happens and some clown 🤡 replaces good guy
