My ETAs are never accurate. This would be understandable if they are sometimes too early and sometimes too late. However, every time I stop at a red light, the ETA goes up by one minute. And this is just scratching the surface of the ETA problem.
You’re at Lyft. Shouldn’t you know this answer?
Lyft doesn’t handle this but using HERE map service I think? Lyft takes care of car scheduling maybe. But still using HERE’s ETA
I see you’re at Lyft and this seems to bother you a lot… Taking a guess here but are you a driver for Lyft? Lmao
I would guess they are not stupid. However every traffic / eta estimation I use no matter the service underestimates bad traffic, it’s true.
Sounds like it’s pretty accurate if it’s only changing by a minute here and there. The precision increases as there’s less uncertainty. Unfortunately, predicting the future with high precision requires some sort of super powerful lens that can curves around space time. Allcom was working on that, but I heard it wasn’t going well because of one of their engineers sabotaged the project…
I dont track it minute by minute, but the trip duration usually ends up being spot on for me.
maybe ur just a slower than avg driver
The fact that you think data scientists are the ones coming with ETAs for google maps means you need more background knowledge to understand the answer to your question
This
Could you elaborate?
Pretty accurate for me
It’s a feature, not a bug.
