The end of Backdoor Roth?!
When talking to my gardener, I came to know he was banned "for life" from Costco about 5 years ago for shoplifting some children book for his son. It was totally his mistake he admits it was a momentary temptation. He said loss prevention caught him and told him never to step inside Costco again and his membership was cancelled. Since he cooperated with them, they didnt call the police although they made him sign some papers (which he doesnt remember except that one said 'police form'). But he never got any letter from police or court. (Even when i hired him nothing came up in his background check too) He said he has never stepped into Costco after that, and never bothered to contact Costco to find out if he can enter again. This got me curious how do these big box stores enforce lifetime bans? Even if they took his pic, his look would change as the years pass. Does anyone here work in loss prevention or has similar experience they can share? #retail
I have not seen any face detection machine in any Costco and staff changes over the years. So not sure how can they ensure about this ? May be during billing time pop up will come with message but someone need to feed that details in backend along with his contact number .
His wife opened an account in her name, which seems like an easy workaround to this. But he says he refuses to go with her to Costco too.
