Hi All I've a zoom call scheduled with an engagement manager at McKinsey implementation, it's not a formal interview. I reached out to him for a job opening and he liked my profile and agreed for a zoom call. What should I expect and more importantly how can I grab this opportunity. Consultants please help.
Be white
He should be the one trying to impress you
Ask for a formal referral, they just want their referral bonus. It'll help you jump the screeners HR run.
Thank them for their time and focus on Leetcode.
I'm not into tech dude, and it's a consultant position.
Yes but with enough Leetcode, you can crack it!
Tell him you think BCG > McKinsey
How did it go?
Ask him whether he wants a referral to Accenture Strategy
True story: One of my former employees had a similar interaction with a partner from Bain. We had just worked on a project that McKinsey had advised incorrectly on and was a complete failure. So I advised him, parrot your experience and ask what Bain would have done better. He ended up getting an offer and took it.
It is interesting to tough to get back from Mckinsey EM especially since time is so precious for them. I am also building my connection with consultants. Do you just reach out to them on LinkedIn?
1. Be yourself 2. Clearly know the role and articulate your expertise 3. Be structured in your thinking and communication. 4. Be ready for a mini case and behavioral interview
Thanks, any opinions about McKinsey Implementation team, I've heard it's something new.
