Cleared Amazon onsite, but lowballed.
I have been contacted by G recruiter for past few years and I finally agreed to giving it a shot. During the call he mentioned about the interview process involving two infrastructure expertise interview. Later in the email, I see that the position is for infrastructure SWE. The teams are interesting to me but I feel I would have better chance of clearing the interview if it had algo and system design(because my current role is more of a generalist). Now how do I convey this to recruiter? I don’t want to come out as someone who is afraid of not clearing the interview. I want to play on my strength i.e algorithms. P.S. Currently work at a puny startup, tc 160k + God Only Knows the worth of paper money
Tell them exactly that.
Just say you are looking for a SWE generalist role. They want to match you up with the best match. Let them know what that is. If needed, update your resume to highlight skills for the job you want. Send updated resume to recruiter with request to apply for the role you want.
